Bio

Janis Jefferies is Professor of Visual Arts, Goldsmiths, University of London, UK where she is also Senior Research Fellow, Constance Howard Resource and Research Centre in Textiles and Director of Goldsmiths Digital Studios, a research centre across Arts and Technology encompassing an MFA in Computational Studios Arts and a PHD in Arts and Computational Technology. As Associate Pro Warden, Creative and Cultural industries, her interests are in emergent business models and artists moral rights (CREATe, Writing and the Publishing Industry), and creative solutions to address social, economic and cultural challenges through research into ‘new’ business models and Intellectual Property (IP) structures across the sector. This includes collaborative forms of arts, design and technology through shifting sites of cultural production, dissemination and public engagement. She is also is a member of several international advisory editorial and review boards including, Transactions new section in Leonardo print journal that publishes short refereed papers. It provides a fast track to publishing key new results, ideas and developments in practice, Textile: the Journal of Cloth and Culture and Craft (Berg Publishers), n.Paradoxa (feminist art journal, University of the Arts, London) and Kunapipi, published by the department of English Literature, University of Wollongong, Australia. She is part of an international curatorial board of Kasa Gallery, Istanbul and co curated the Hangzhou Fiber Triennial in China which opened in the Autumn 2013. She is an advisory board member of Aarthus University Faculty of the Arts, Denmark.
